Question & Answer

Why read the book SILENT PAIN?

SILENT PAIN has been written by a fellow CFS/ME/FMS sufferer so the content is relevant to other people who have struggled and suffered with the same issues relating to these conditions. In the early stages of the author’s illness she was told she had some sort of post-infective chronic fatigue state. As the months passed by, some doctors started referring to it as Fibromyalgia Syndrome FMS.

It is written as a personal account of events of my illness as it presented me daily with many challenges, hurdles and problems relating to my newfound state of poor health. The book also offers an alternate view of the syndromes CFS/ME/FMS. One doctor suggested a differential diagnosis in the early stages of presenting illness and this book explores the notion that two individual disease states are behind the complex illness presentations. The book discusses family history, symptoms, lifestyle issues, diagnostic difficulties and dietary considerations. It is a comprehensive alternative view of the conditions that are currently known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) and Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS).
