The Silent Pain Story
SILENT PAIN is the story of a mystery illness that beset me in 1999. I was told by most doctors that I had Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS), but one doctor suggested otherwise. After years of suffering with chronic pain and fatigue symptoms I developed a unique view of my illness. I believe that distinct diseases make up what is labelled as FMS in current medicine. I am sharing my view of FMS and ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) with other sufferers. I now live free of the symptoms that plagued me for years, putting an end to my suffering and debilitation. My life has been restored because I view my FMS illness as two distinct diseases and treat them both individually.
I visited Anastasia’s Pool when starting to write this book. It is a man-made pool that the former lighthouse keeper made for his wife Anastasia who suffered from debilitating arthritis. The natural high tides of the Indian Ocean fill the pool daily. The warmed rock and sea water were therapeutic for her arthritic ailments.
